UPGRADE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
***********************************************************
Select the RUN command from the FILE menu of the Program
Manager. Run the program "install.exe".
Example: a:\install.exe
If you already have a previous version of Fund Manager
on your computer you can install this newer version
directly over your old version. During installation
specify the directory where your current version is
located (eg. c:\finance). You can continue to use your
existing data files. Your old version of Fund Manager
will be overwritten. New samples will be installed in
the samples sub-directory.
If you want to try this new version before deciding to
upgrade install this version to a different directory
(eg. c:\finance2). You can still continue to use your
existing data files.

WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU REGISTER
***********************************************************
You will be sent a registration letter, which includes a
name, serial number, and password combination to be
entered into Fund Manager. This information will enable
the registered version of Fund Manager. If you have provided
an electronic mail address the letter will be sent to the
specified address. Otherwise, a letter will be sent through
the US mail.
All registered users are entitled to 3 years of free
technical support from the author. Mark Beiley may be
reached by either US mail, telephone, or electronic mail at
the addresses and number listed above.
Three free sets of historical prices (excuding S/H). See
the Price Order Form in the online help.
The option to purchase a "printable" copy of the manual.
The manual is identical to the on-line help, but you may
order the manual in either a Microsoft Word or plain ascii
text file format. This will allow you to print out the
entire manual for easier reading. The manual may either be
mailed on diskette through the mail, or sent electronically.
The cost to receive the manual on diskette is $2.50 ($5
outside continental US). The cost to receive the manual
electronically is $1.50, but is only available if you have
provided either an America Online or CompuServe user ID on
your registration form. Please add the approprate amount
to your registration payment and a note stating you would
like to order the manual. Also, please specify the data
format for the manual that you would prefer: Microsoft
Word 2.0 for Windows or a plain text file.
You will have the author's gratitude and have contributed
to the continuing development of Fund Manager.
You may print out the file register.txt to fill out and
return when registering. Please include any electronic
mail addresses that you may be reached at, in order to make
it easier for the author to notify you of updates.
***********************************************************
METHODS OF PAYMENT
***********************************************************
1. A personal check drawn on any US or Canadian financial
institution.
(If drawn from a Canadian institution please specify
"US dollars" next to the amount.)
2. Money orders, cashiers checks, or anything similar.
3. Cash in US currency is accepted, but discouraged due to
the risk of sending cash through the mail.
Please make checks payable to "Mark Beiley".
Unfortunately I am not able to accept any credit cards.

DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
***********************************************************
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and
continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual
programs differ on details -- some request registration
while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
period. With registration, you get anything from the simple
right to continue using the software to an updated program
with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with
a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware
authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial
authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In
both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main
difference is in the method of distribution. The author
specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.
For example, some authors require written permission before
a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
You should find software that suits your needs and
pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The
Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-
back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't
pay for it.

DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
***********************************************************
Users of Fund Manager(copyright 1993-5 by Mark Beiley) must
accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"Fund Manager is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without
limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of
fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no liability
for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from
the use of Fund Manager."
Fund Manager is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
with your friends, but please do not give it away altered
or as part of another system. The essence of "user-
supported" software is to provide personal computer users
with quality software without high prices, and yet to
provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop
new products. If you find this program useful and find
that you are using Fund Manager and continue to use Fund
Manager after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
registration payment of $20 to Mark Beiley.
The registration fee will license one copy for use on any
one computer at any one time. You must treat this software
just like a book. An example is that this software may be
used by any number of people and may be freely moved from
one computer location to another, so long as there is no
possibility of it being used at one location while it's
being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by
two different persons at the same time.
Commercial users of Fund Manager must register and pay for
their copies of Fund Manager within 30 days of first use or
their license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may
be made by contacting Mark Beiley.
Anyone distributing Fund Manager for any kind of remunera-
tion must first contact Mark Beiley at the address above
for authorization.
You are encouraged to pass a copy of Fund Manager along to
your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to reg-
ister their copy if they find that they can use it. All
registered users will receive a registered version of Fund
Manager.
